I am a Reader in Translation Studies at the University of Warwick and a research associate at the University of the Free State (South Africa). My research explores what translation does in society: what happens when the tools, the technology, and the people doing it change. I study how AI and other technologies are reshaping translation practices across professional contexts, public services, and media, and what that means for the communities who depend on them. My work connects academic research to policy questions, and I collaborate with public institutions, professional bodies, and industry to put research findings to practical use.
